You are taking part in a clinical trial. How are you doing?

The Department of Clinical Research at the University of Basel has been commissioned by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) to conduct a countrywide survey of clinical trial participants.

What’s the survey for?

The survey is intended to find out how you are experiencing being a clinical trial participant. Its findings and conclusions will be used to reappraise the provisions and procedures adopted in human research and improve these where appropriate, in the interests of all such participants.

Why is it important that I take part?

By taking part in this survey, you can help give a voice to all the persons who participate in such clinical trials, and thereby help ensure that future trials of this kind better address and accommodate the needs of their participants.

What’s in the survey?

  • The survey is being conducted in the form of a questionnaire. It contains questions on your experiences and your motivation to participate in the clinical trial.
  • You can complete the questionnaire either online or in paper form.
  • The survey is entirely anonymous: at no point will your answers be attributable back to you.
  • The questionnaire is available in German, French, Italian and English.
  • Completing the questionnaire takes about 10-25 minutes.

How do I take part?

Please retain the flyer you have received! It contains the participant code which you will need if you wish to complete the survey questionnaire. You can complete the questionnaire either online or in paper form.

How to take part in the survey online:

  1. Click on the red button "Access survey".
  2. Select your preferred language.
  3. Enter your participant code.
  4. You can now complete the questionnaire.

The participant code will not allow any of your answers to be traced back to you. It will only be used to determine which clinical trial you are involved in. Please do not divulge this code to any other person.

Please note that only fully completed questionnaires can be evaluated. If you are completing your questionnaire online, you should also do so in a single session, as you will not be able to save the document and return to it later.
